Suntory Kakubin Whisky arrives

by Stefanie Collins

Created in 1937, Japanese whisky Kakubin is finally available in Australia following Suntory’s launch on to the local market in September. Kakubin, which translates as “square bottle” in Japanese, is credited for inspiring Japan’s recent highball craze, where scores of consumers drink Kakubin from an ice packed highball glass topped with soda water and a squeeze of lemon in specially created bars throughout key cities. “Japanese whisky has taken Australia by storm and the response to our portfolio of luxury whiskies – Yamazaki, Hibiki and Hakushu – has been incredibly positive,” said Yosuke Minato, GM of trade marketing and corporate planning for Suntory Australia. Suntory Whisky Kakubin is available now at bars and liquor stores throughout Australia for RRP$48.
